Kitchen Cops: 9 high score on inspections, 5 low performers

HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - There are five low performers in this week's Kitchen Cops report. Here's the breakdown for the inspections.

We begin the Kitchen Cops report at Mezza Luna in Huntsville. The Madison County Health Department handed the restaurant an 83. The inspector reports that several food items in a reach-in-cooler needed to be cooler.

The inspector reports lasagna, meat sauce and raw eggs were seven to 21 degrees above the temperature required to prevent bacterial growth in cold holding food. The inspector also reports the can opener blade was dirty.

The Chik-fil-A in Athens scored an 83. The inspector says the ice maker needed to be cleaned, and chicken was 12 degrees above the required temperature.

Ellemay's Family Cafe in Ardmore scored a 71. The inspector reports cheese was 12 degrees above the required temperature, and eggs were 17 degrees too warm. They also lost points because there was no measurable sanitizer in the dish machine.

The Wings To Go on North Memorial Parkway in Huntsville scored an 83. The inspector discovered cooked chicken pieces that were between 28 and 72 degrees below the required hot holding temperature.

An 82 for Jo-Mo One Stop Texaco in Tanner. A Limestone County inspector reports the meat slicer needed to be cleaned, and that cheese was held nine degrees too warm.

The workers at Golden Star Chinese Restaurant in Huntsville earned their way off of the low performers list after scoring an 87 during their re-inspection. That's eight points better than last time.
