HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - The recent upheaval of the state's same-sex marriage laws have one organization taking extra precaution.
The headquarters of Free2Be, a resource center for the LGBT community, is ramping up its security.
An armed security guard will now be manning the front door during the group's evening support sessions.
"By passing laws that discriminate, you're giving some people the idea that it is ok to do things they shouldn't do, and I felt it was just time to be proactive," explained founder James Robinson.
The Free2Be center offers support sessions for victims of domestic violence and sexual abuse, among other services.
