Florence PD in pursuit of felon, believed armed

FLORENCE, AL (WAFF) - Florence police are attempting to apprehend a wanted felon, who is believed to be armed.

Police said the subject ran from officers as they were attempting to take him into custody.

The suspect is a white male, last seen wearing a red jacket and a baseball cap. Police said via Facebook they believe the man is 35-year-old Gregory Hayes, who is wanted for violating a court order.

K-9 units are on the scene in an area between Patton Street and Sweetwater Avenue.

Extra security is in place at Weeden School while officers attend to the situation. You are asked to avoid the area while police continue their pursuit of the suspect.
