Felony robbery charge for man accused of threatening Walmart employees

DECATUR, AL (WAFF) - Decatur police arrested a man Monday who they said robbed a Walmart store.

The incident happened Nov. 9 at the Spring Avenue Walmart location.

Police said the man was seen by loss prevention officers concealing clothing underneath his own clothes. When confronted, the man ran out of the store and into the parking lot.

Employees pursued the man, who turned towards them and told them he had a gun. The employees stopped the pursuit, and the man made a getaway in a car.

Investigators later identified the man as 18-year-old Jaylon Deshun Swoope.

Swoope was charged with a felony count of first-degree robbery. Bond was set at $10,000.
