LIMESTONE COUNTY, AL (WAFF) - A Limestone county man convicted of murdering his cousin was sentenced to 30 years in prison on Thursday.

A jury found Kenny Adams guilty of stabbing Yancy Foster to death on New Year's Eve in 2012. They found him guilty in August.

Early in the investigation, authorities said the two got into an argument over some "Fast and Furious" DVDs, but District Attorney Brian Jones said that an affair between Foster and Adams' wife was the motive.

During his trial, he claimed he killed his cousin in self defense, citing Alabama's "stand your ground" law.

Following sentencing, the defense argued a motion for a new trial. Judge Robert baker denied that motion.

Adams now has 42 days to file for an appeal.
