TN Valley health officials plan more flu shot events

NORTH ALABAMA (WAFF) - Flu season is in full swing across North Alabama, and Tennessee Valley health officials are putting in the footwork to ensure you have access to this year's flu shot.

Huntsville Hospital's Mobile Medical Unit will be distributing 3,000 doses of the vaccine during a four-stop road trip. There is no cost.

  • Tuesday: Bob Harrison Center (6156 Pulaski Pike, Huntsville) 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.
  • Wednesday: Madison Co. Commission District 1 (9457 Moores Mill Rd., New Market) 2-5 p.m.
  • Thursday: Madison Co. Commission District 3 (4273 Highway 72, Brownsboro) 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
  • Friday: Monrovia Community Center (254 Allen Drive, Huntsville) 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.

In Limestone County, the Alabama Department of Public Health will conduct a drive-thru clinic Thursday, Oct. 30 at the Athens Sportsplex on Highway 31 North from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Shots there will be $2, or free for those who show their Medicaid and Medicare Part B cards.

The Shoals Community Clinic and the UNA College of Nursing are partnering to host the annual Community Health Fair on Monday, Nov. 3 and Wednesday, Nov. 5 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day. The clinic is located 309-B Handy Homes in Florence. Among other health-related booths, tests, and screenings, flu shots will also be administered. Admission is free to the public.
