Residents and law enforcement came together to discuss ways to make their community a safer place. The meeting was held at Sweet Home Missionary Baptist Church in Athens.

It was an opportunity for police to hear from the community and the community to hear from police.

Police said they want to know what people are concerned about and work with them to make the community safer.

Athens' Police Chief, Floyd Johnson, speaks on the issue.

"I want to start in the future able to go out and talk with people in the community and groups." said Chief Johnson. "I want to get their input on things that we should be doing or could be doing to help their area, to address needs in their area, and also to be able to be more visible."
