LAUDERDALE COUNTY, AL (WAFF) - A shoplifting call at the Florence Belk store ended with a felony arrest on Monday evening.

Loss prevention officers stopped Lorena Calvery and Chelsie Christian for shoplifting at the department store. A Florence police officer responded to make the arrests.

Lorena Calvery had a small child with her and the child's grandparents were called to take custody.

When the grandparents arrived, police said they were irate and would not calm down.

After several warnings, the officer arrested the grandmother, Bonnie J. Calvery, for disorderly conduct. As he was putting her in hand-cuffs, the grandfather, William Calvery, grabbed the handcuffs and began to fight with the officer.

The grandmother then jumped on the officer's back and grabbed his gun to remove it from the holster, police said. As she was attempting to grab the gun, she screamed, "I'll kill you," to the officer.

Bonnie Calvery did not remove the gun from the officer's holster and was put in hand-cuffs along with the grandfather.

She was charged with disarming a law enforcement officer, which is a class C felony.
