DECATUR, AL (WAFF) - Decatur police are investigating a home invasion that happened over the weekend.

Four men forced their way into a home in the 3100 block of Modaus Road around 1 a.m. on Sunday.

The victim told police she was home alone when one man knocked on her door. Four men forced their way inside and stole cash, two shotguns, four rifles, and four pistols.

They tied up the victim who was later able to get free and go to a neighbor's house for help.

Police said they believe this is an isolated incident because they haven't seen anything like this incident in a long time.

"If there is a knock on the door, if you don't recognize the person, if you speak to them through the door and they don't appear to have a legitimate reason for being there, just call the police," advised Lieutenant John Crouch. "Ask them to leave, call the police, we'll be happy to come check them out. It's what we do."

We spoke to a man who identified himself as the victim's husband. He declined to speak on-camera but said his wife is doing okay.

Decatur police continue to investigate.
