DEKALB COUNTY, AL (WAFF) - Drug Task Force agents and Drug Enforcement Agency task force members followed information they received from Intel and did a control delivery of 2.2 pounds of the chemical used to spray spice.
This chemical is extremely dangerous in its concentrated form. Once the chemical is mixed, put into liquid form, and sprayed on the material, it then becomes synthetic marijuana or "spice".
One of the men involved, 22-year-old Corey Wayne Martin, was charged with trafficking in synthetics and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. While, 31-year-old Stephen Austin Hammonds, was charged with unlawful possession of controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
Both men are being held in the DeKalb County Detention Center awaiting bonds. Information gained in this arrest lead to more arrests in Marshall County.
The street value of the drug seized was estimated at $400,000.
The case is still under investigation.
