LIMESTONE COUNTY, AL (WAFF) - Alabama State Troopers pulled a vehicle over Friday night with reports of the car driving erratically along interstate 65 in Limestone County.
Further investigation into the routine traffic stop revealed that Hartselle Mayor, Don Hall, was behind the wheel.
After failing a road side sobriety test, troopers placed Mayor Hall under arrest at 7:45 p.m.
He was taken to the Limestone County Jail and charged with DUI.
He is no longer in jail.
Hartselle City Councilman Kenny Thompson said he's shocked by all of this. He has known Hall for 35-years. This is a sad day in the history of Hartselle.
Saturday afternoon, the Mayor declined to release a statement with WAFF.
Mayor Hall told Council President, Bill Smelser, that he will resign at Tuesday night's meeting.
Mayor Hall was elected in 2012.
