NEWTOWN, CT (WAFF) - A young tornado survivor from the Alabama town of Arab got to comfort family members of the Sandy Hook Elementary school shootings in Connecticut.

Ari Hallmark flew up in the past week to hand deliver copies of her book "To Heaven After The Storm" to parents and family of the victims of the shootings.

Ari lost 6 members of her family, including her parents, in the 2011 tornado outbreak. She wrote the book, with family friend Dr. Lisa Reburn, to recount her seeing her family ascend to heaven. They left 140 copies of her book up there.

She's been asking to deliver her book of hope to the families there since a shooter opened fire killing 20 children and 6 faculty members in 2012.

In spreading the word about her book and its message, Ari met athlete Bo Jackson during his visit to the Birmingham area in 2013.
