MADISON COUNTY, AL (WAFF) - The Madison County Board of Education voted Tuesday to begin the process of purchasing land for the new Monrovia High School.
The board approved the purchase of land from the Pettus family. The property the board is interested in is located at the corner of Pettus Road and Pine Grove Road, across from Legacy Elementary School.
Base Realignment and Closure Commission (BRAC) funds will be used to build the planned $46-million facility, which is intended to alleviate overcrowding at Sparkman High School.
There is no official word on how soon the agreement will be finalized.
