Smith leads in Limestone Co. Sheriff primary

LIMESTONE COUNTY, AL (WAFF) - In Limestone County, Sheriff Mike Blakely now knows whom he'll face in November.

Republican Eric Smith won the primary Tuesday night with 54% of the vote, followed by Brad Pullum and Eric Redd.

Smith said throughout the campaign that Limestone County is ready for a younger generation to take over. When he arrived at his campaign headquarters last night, Smith was met by an enthusiastic crowd. Smith said waiting for the numbers was stressful.

Smith will face Sheriff Mike Blakely, who is a Democrat, in November.
