HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - A man who ran from police ended up being charged with burglary late Friday night.
Officers said they were dispatched to an alarm at Lakewood Community Center on Kenwood Drive around 11:20 p.m. When they arrived, they said they saw Leandre Collins, 23, walking from the side of the building.
Police said when they tried to question Collins, he fled south, leading officers on a chase. Authorities said Collins ran across Mastin Lake Road and down Elizabeth Street. After briefly losing sight of Collins, police said they heard a woman screaming, "Get out, get out!"
Officers said they saw Collins run out of the rear door of the victim's residence on the 3400 block of Elizabeth Street, where he was apprehended by police.
Police said because Collins illegally entered the victim's residence, he was charged with burglary. There was no damage to or entry into Lakewood Community Center.
