MARSHALL COUNTY, AL (WAFF) - Hundreds of people took advantage of low-cost flu shots at a drive-through clinic held Friday in Marshall County.
More than 300 received a shot without having to leave their cars, as shots were administered on the campus of Marshall County Technical School.
Officials said they nearly matched the 380 shots given last year, with three hours remaining before the end of the event. While the shot doesn't guarantee a person will not catch the flu, health department officials said it can seriously help prevent it. The vaccine contains several predominant strains of the virus, with which the body develops antibodies to help combat current strains.
Those with Medicare cards were able to get their shots at no cost.
