LIMESTONE COUNTY, AL (WAFF) - Officials with the Alabama State Health Department said an investigation is still ongoing surrounding a possible salmonella outbreak in Limestone County.

According to the State Health Department, officials have been unable to identify a specific source of the outbreak or the number of people impacted. An investigator spent the last two days interviewing potential victims in the area.

According to the Limestone County Health Department, all indications surrounding the salmonella outbreak point to a Bean Day lunch held over the weekend in Athens hosted by the Limestone County Foundation on Aging.

Health department officials hope to have salmonella test results back by next week Tuesday.
