HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - Huntsville police believe that at least two of the three shooting incidents on Norwood Drive are related.
Police officers first responded to a gunshot victim at Atkins Drive at 5 p.m. Monday.
The victim told officers that while he and his girlfriend were driving by the intersection of Norwood Drive and Norwood Circle, they noticed an unknown man standing at the roadside. The victim said that as they drove past, the man fired several shots, hitting the victim in his left foot while he was driving. The victim said he drove away at high speed to avoid any more injuries.
The victim was transported by HEMSI to Huntsville Hospital E.R. where he was treated and then released.
Officers responded to a second shooting at a home on Norwood Drive around 5:22 p.m.
The homeowner told police that while she was inside, she heard several gunshots outside her house. She said that after the shots stopped, she went outside and saw that her house and car had been hit by bullets. Police said the shooter had already fled the scene.
The victim was not injured during the shooting.
Huntsville police responded to a third shooting that happened at 5:45 p.m. at the intersection of Norwood Drive and Medaris Road.
The victim told police that she was driving her car in the area when someone shot at her car multiple times. The victim was not injured. This case is pending further investigation.
Police have not said if this shooting is connected to the previous two.
No one has been arrested yet.
