HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - A fatal crash on I-565 and Mooresville Road left one person dead and another in the hospital in critical condition. A Good Samaritan who helped pull one of the crash victims from her car spoke about what went on at the scene.
"I was just saying 'stay with us,'" said Amber Hiller.
They were words of desperation and encouragement from a complete stranger. Hiller was just two cars behind the accident. When she realized what happened, she immediately sprang into action.
"If I knew that if it were somebody I cared for, I would want them to jump out and do something," said Hiller.
When first responders arrived, Hiller helped pull the woman out of her car. She also helped carry oxygen tanks. And although she left the rest up to first responders, she says the images still haunt her.
"Just flashbacks, I keep seeing her and her belly," said Hiller.
Hiller said she believed the woman she helped looked more than six months pregnant. Just one more reason she says her prayers haven't stopped.
"I was just praying that she would hold on because I knew she was somebody's wife and mom," said Hiller.
The woman, later identified as Marissa Baugher, was transported to Huntsville Hospital where she later died. Her unborn child also did not survive the wreck.
