BOAZ, AL (WAFF) - An "act of random kindness" turned into a criminal act early Friday in Boaz.

Boaz police said a security guard was helping a motorist who claimed to need gas money when the driver pulled a gun and robbed the guard.

The security guard, who was at the Tocco building on Industrial Boulevard, checked out a stopped car at the front entrance around 4 a.m.

The driver told the guard he needed gas money and, after the guard gave him some money, he pulled the gun. Police said the driver got an undetermined amount of money and drove off in a red 1980s GMC pickup truck with a Marshall County tag.
