COLBERT COUNTY, AL (WAFF) - A Colbert County man is in jail Tuesday night, accused of killing his girlfriend and letting her body lay on a couch for several days.
A grand jury indicted Bradley Hill for manslaughter and abuse of a corpse.
In June 2012, Sheffield Police said Hill left his girlfriend, Tina Vendetti, lying dead for a couple of days before calling police. He originally claimed she had overdosed and thought she was sleeping.
An exact cause of death could not be determined by officials. The case was presented to a grand jury as a death investigation, they then ruled the case as manslaughter.
"It's kind of like a policeman's nightmare, you know. He's out there and has done something wrong but you got to have the tools you need to prove it and that's the way our society operates. And thank goodness it operates that way but I'd like to take my hat off to the grand jury that sat through a lot of testimony, asked a lot of good questions, reviewed the evidence and returned what I believe is a fair indictment," said Sheffield Police Chief Greg Ray.
Hill is being held at the Colbert County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
