Florence helicopter pilot critically injured

FLORENCE, AL (WAFF) - A helicopter crashed Saturday afternoon on a private property in Florence. It happened at a home on 807 Spring Cove Road.

Lauderdale County Sheriff Ronnie Willis said two people were attempting to load the small helicopter onto a trailer to take it to a shop. One person was inside the helicopter at the time when it crashed.

Sheriff Willis confirmed Milton Hearn was airlifted to Huntsville Hospital. He was listed in critical condition and remains in intensive care.

Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the crash.
