Supporters celebrate birthday of 6-year-old hostage

Midland City has something happy to celebrate after a little boy was held hostage for a week in an underground bunker.

Ethan turns six Wednesday, and the Dale County town plans to ring in his birthday in style.

Dale County superintendent Donny Bynum said he's planning a joint celebration for Ethan's birthday and for Charles Poland, the man who saved Ethan's life.

Many people around the country will show their support by sending his family birthday cards.

You can mail birthday cards to this address:

Napier Field Police Department
c/o Lt. McDaniel
400 Headquarters Street
Napier Field, Alabama 36303

Police said they have already received hundreds of birthday cards.

Facebook pages for Ethan and the slain bus driver, Charles Poland Jr., are gaining more popularity daily. Thousands of people are posting prayers for the families involved.

The week long hostage situation ended Monday with Ethan's captor's death. Details surrounding the conclusion are still few.

Dale County High School made ribbons to honor both Ethan and the bus driver. Blue, red and black ribbons decorated schools and downtown Midland City.
