ALBERTVILLE, AL (WAFF) - Albertville Police and the Department of Homeland Security are searching for a bus that's been coming to town that may be harboring illegals and narcotics.
Police Chief Doug Pollard said they're doing what they can to find the right bus while properly following the law.
Pollard said a bus was recently stopped and checked out after receiving complaints of possible illegals and drugs being transported to the area.
The chief said the bus had no current registration stickers displayed, so a traffic stop was made.
He said the bus also had plates from Mexico and the state of Texas.
After the stop, log books by the bus showed it had been in Mexico before making its way to Albertville, but when they checked out the passengers, everything checked out.
"Contacted Homeland Security. They came out, and everyone on the bus was legal. All had passports, were stamped. We also contacted the border where they crossed, and they remember checking the bus three days prior to that," said Pollard.
Pollard said they will continue looking for the bus while obeying all laws before stopping one.
