LAWRENCE COUNTY, AL (WAFF) - Investigators in Lawrence County arrested two convicted sex offenders for failure to register.

Sheriff's Deputies said Matthew Alderson was arrested after he moved from Plainview Texas to Alabama without notifying Texas authorities.

Investigators also arrested Travis Mesko for failing to register after he was found living in Lawrence County.  Authorities said Mesko moved from Missouri in February.  He attempted to avoid apprehension by giving a false name to State Probation Officers.

Under the new sex offender laws, offenders are required to notify the agency where they reside, of any planned relocation.

Both were booked in the Lawrence County Jail.
