ATHENS, AL (WAFF) - Athens police made five felony arrests following two searches Friday.
Officials said they executed two search warrants in Athens Friday. At 1210 Plato Jones Street, officials found a small quantity of crack cocaine. At 301 Bridgeforth Street, officials found a large amount crack cocaine with an estimated street value of about $3000. Agents also found illegal prescription medication.
Officers arrested Leonard Bailey, Wendell Hyter, Rebecca Overton, Clifford Gill and Mary Beard.
Bailey was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, third degree assault, public intoxication and public lewdness.
Hyter was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, switched tag, no insurance and no driver's license.
Overton was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
Gill was charged with two counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance.
Beard was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance.
All five were taken to the Limestone County Jail awaiting bond.
