Southern Showdown: Presidential candidates make final push in Alabama

HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - GOP Presidential candidates are making a last-minute push in Alabama with the help of their spouses and celebrities.

Mitt Romney is campaigning in Mobile Monday morning before heading to Mississippi. Comedian Jeff Foxworthy will be joining him at the event.

Romney's wife, Ann will be making stops Monday in Montgomery, Birmingham, and Huntsville. She will speak at Edith Ann's diner on Pratt Avenue at 4:45p.m.

Santorum and his wife Karen welcomed customers at a restaurant in Tupelo, Mississippi Sunday. Then Mrs. Santorum spoke at a Republican Women's rally in Decatur Sunday evening.

Rick Santorum is scheduled to hold a rally in Montgomery at 8 p.m. Monday.

Newt Gingrich is vying for Alabama supporters as well. Gingrich and Santorum have accepted invites to a presidential forum in Birmingham Monday night at the Alabama Theater. Doors open at 3:30, the debate begins at 5:30.

Neither Mitt Romney or Ron Paul have agreed to participate in that forum.

The latest Rasmussen Poll shows a virtual tie. Gingrich is in front with 30% support. Santorum follows closely behind with 29%. Romney is in third place with 28% support. Ron Paul finished last with 6% support among polled voters.

Alabama's primary is Tuesday, March 13.
