Tornado damages Limestone Correctional Facility

LIMESTONE COUNTY, AL (WAFF) - Limestone Correctional was struck by a tornado on March 2 and suffered significant damage.

A training building was destroyed.

Officials reported roof damage to two other buildings as well as two other dorms. Those dorms hold about 250 inmates each.

No injuries were reported.

State Officials say they moved about 200 inmates from the damaged facility to three other facilities in the state.

The state has mobilized additional security.
