5 people injured in 3-vehicle accident in Waterloo

WATERLOO, AL (WAFF) - Five people were injured after a three-vehicle accident in Lauderdale County.

State Troopers in Muscle Shoals said the accident happened around 5:15 a.m. Saturday on County 14 in Waterloo.

19-year-old Chelsea Branscome from Florence was driving a 2002 Honda Accord when her vehicle was hit by a 2002 Chevrolet pick-up truck driven by Steve Hollins from Florence.

Hollin's vehicle was carrying a trailer with 2 ATV's. He was not injured. Branscome and her passenger 20-year-old Ashley Hughes from Florence were both injured and taken to Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital. Police said neither were wearing seatbelts. No word yet on their conditions.

A 2004 Ford Kia driven by 27-year-old Richard Cole of Russellville was also involved in the accident. Official said Cole along with his passengers, 30-year-old Steve Pennington and 22-year-old Michael Sanderson both of Russellville were injured. They were also not wearing seatbelts. Pennington was transported to Huntsville where he is listed in fair condition.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
