LAWRENCE COUNTY, AL (WAFF) - Lawrence County High School kids have a new tool for their revitalized driver's-ed program.

Toyota and Discovery Education presented the school with two virtual driver simulators.

Lawrence County High is the first school nationwide to win the Toyota Teen Driver Educators Challenge. 9th grade teacher Gina McCarley's submission on how to keep kids safe on the road earned the prize.

"We have students that may not have automobiles at home, so they'll actually get realistic practice before they get on the road. And we just started our driver's-ed program at the high school without having to take it during the summer," said McCarley.
