DECATUR, AL (WAFF) - Decatur police arrested two more suspects in the armed robbery and double murder at Krystal Wednesday morning. Police said a total of three suspects, all employees of the restaurant, were involved.
An employee found one body inside the restaurant on 6th Avenue just before 5 a.m. Wednesday and called police. Officers responded to the scene and discovered a second body.
Police identified the victims as 50-year-old Jeffery Mark Graff of Huntsville and 23-year-old Jessie Jose Aguilar of Decatur.
Graff's body was found outside the restaurant's cooler. Aguilar's body was found inside the cooler. Investigators said the victims were shot multiple times with a 9 mm handgun that hasn't been recovered.
Officers also found that money had been taken from the cash registers and the safe. Some of the money stolen in the robbery was recovered.
Investigators said the lobby of the restaurant closed around midnight, but the drive-thru is open 24 hours a day. The last sale was registered at 3 a.m. and the bodies were found at 5 a.m.
Decatur Police located a person of interest, Jordaan Creque, in the emergency room of Decatur General Hospital at 6 a.m. Wednesday. Creque was charged with two counts of capital murder.
20-year-old Ezekiel Marquez Gholston and 22-year-old Cassandra Ryann Eldred, both of Hartselle, were arrested in connection to the crimes Thursday before lunchtime. Investigators said all three suspects were employees of the store.
Police said they believe Eldred waited in a car while Gholston and Creque went inside the restaurant. They aren't saying which of the two allegedly shot the victims but they did say the motive was robbery.
Creque will have an initial court appearance Friday morning at 9 a.m. in Judge Waters courtroom. This will be by closed circuit from the jail. The nature of the hearing is to explain the charges, Creque's rights and his legal representation.
Police questioned a second person of interest Wednesday afternoon. They are searching for a third person of interest.
Police said the investigation is ongoing and anyone who may have been in the area of the Krystal restaurant is urged to call the police department at 256-341-4660.
"We are saddened by the tragedy at our restaurant and we are assisting and cooperating with the local authorities as best possible," said a representative from the Krystal Company. "Our thoughts and prayers are with the families."
