Two Fort Payne students arrested over BB gun incident
FORT PAYNE, AL (WAFF) - Two Fort Payne Middle School students were arrested after a BB gun was brought to school
School Superintendent Jim Cunningham said a student reported to the school principal a seventh grade student had a gun.
Cunningham said the student was brought out of class, searched, and that is when they found an unloaded BB gun. That student was arrested.
Then on Wednesday, another 7th grade student was arrested for allegedly making threats to the person for notifying authorities about the student with the gun.
"The message is you can't be at school. He cannot be at school and the message is we will not tolerate of course weapons but we will not tolerate threats. You cannot threaten people," said Cunningham.
Cunningham said both students are now in custody and will be dealt with by the court system before school leaders decide on the their future at school.
