Deadly shooting in Belle Mina

BELLE MINA, AL (WAFF) - One man is dead and another is recovering in the hospital after a deadly shooting in Limestone County.

Investigators tell WAFF 48 News Saturday at 8:45pm 29-year-old Tim Garth of Belle Mina shot 31-year-old Sam Brown and his 29-year-old brother, Ricky Brown.

The shooting took place at 24753 Garrett Road in Belle Mina.

Ricky Brown was transported to Decatur General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Ricky Brown was shot multiple times and was later transported to Huntsville Forensics for an autopsy.

Sam Brown was transported to Huntsville Hospital where he is listed in stable condition with one gunshot wound to the leg.

According to witnesses the two Brown brothers, both of Belle Mina, had assaulted Garth at his residence.

Another brother of Ricky and Sam attempted to intervene and go the brothers to walk away, but they returned and assaulted Garth again.

Garth had a 9mm gun in his pocket which he used to defend himself from attackers.

No charges have been made.

The Limestone County Sheriff Department is still investigating the incident.

Approximately 9 years ago, Ricky Brown was charged in connection with shooting Tim Garth and Garth's sister.
