Born and raised in the small community of Oak Grove, Alabama, Chelsea is no stranger to all things when it comes to weather. From forecasting tornadoes and hurricanes to several snow events, she quickly developed her passion for meteorology and the impact it has on people’s lives. This led her to continue her education so that she could effectively communicate atmospheric processes in a way that is understandable and accessible to anyone.
Chelsea received her B.A. in Communication and Information Sciences from the University of Alabama with an emphasis in Journalism and Creative Media, and Geography in 2019. Shortly thereafter, she went on to receive her M.S. in Geosciences from Mississippi State University with an emphasis in Broadcast and Professional Meteorology. During this time, she worked as the weekend meteorologist at WVUA 23 News in Tuscaloosa, Alabama for two years. She then spent time in Reno, Nevada as a meteorologist before coming to the Rocket City and joining the WAFF 48 First Alert weather team in April 2022.
When she’s not tracking weather, Chelsea enjoys spending quality time outdoors with her family and friends in the great state of Alabama she is proud to call home sweet home.
