One man dies after falling at least 20 feet from Huntsville construction site scaffolding

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) - One man is dead after falling from a construction scaffolding in Huntsville on Thursday.

Huntsville Police investigators identified the man as 59-year-old Toribio Perez.

According to Don Webster with Huntsville Emergency Medical Services, the man died on an Old Monrovia Rd. construction site around 7:20 a.m. on January 5. Perez fell between 20-30 feet from scaffolding on the site.

Investigators believe he suffered a medical emergency before his fall from the scaffolding. HPD is investigating the incident as “an industrial accident.” Police do not believe foul play to be involved.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has opened an investigation into the fall.
