FLORENCE, Ala. (WAFF) - Former escaped inmate Casey White is being charged with felony murder in connection to the death of Vicky White.

The indictment says Casey White is responsible for Vicky White’s death because it happened during Casey White’s escape.

A warrant stemming from a grand jury indictment was served on Casey White on July 6. He was already in state custody serving a 75-year sentence for a 2015 crime spree.

Vicky White was a corrections officer that allegedly helped Casey White escape from prison. The two were then on the run for 11 days before being located in Indiana.

Once the two were seen, a police chase ensued and during that chase, Vicky White lost her life.

A car wash attendant in Evansville, Indiana later spotted Casey White in his carwash while reviewing the camera footage.

On May 9, Casey White and Vicky White were involved in a police chase in Evansville, during that time Vicky White died from what was believed to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Update in Casey White's escape trial.

Casey White’s attorney, Mark McDaniel, said he plans to motion to see Vicky White’s autopsy.

“Casey White will enter a plea of not guilty to the felony charge of murder at his arraignment,” he said. “The defense team will provide all necessary motions, pretrial motions. One motion in particular we will file will be a motion for the state to produce a copy of Vicky White’s autopsy. After we get a copy of that autopsy, we will be filing additional pre-trial motions.”
