HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) - Vestavia Hills High School swept the boys’ and girls’ AHSAA Class 7A State Tennis Championships Tuesday in the tourney being held at the Mobile Tennis Center. The Lady Rebels posted 57 points to claim the school’s 12th girls’ state title overall. However, it was the school’s first since last winning in 2016. Auburn was second with 42 and Huntsville finished third with 37.

Vestavia’s boys captured their seventh state crown overall and their sixth since 2011 posting 53 points in the two-day tournament. Hoover was second with 32 and Auburn was third with 26. The Rebels won four in a row from 2011-2014 and also won the title in 2019. The Class 4A/5A state tourney was also completed Tuesday at Mobile Tennis Center with Madison Academy winning its second straight state boys’ crown. The Mustangs were led by Parker Jacques, who won his second straight No. 1 singles title and teamed with his brother Houston Jacques to claim the 4A/5A doubles crown for the second year in a row. Madison Academy totaled 65 points and LAMP was a close second with 62. Saint James was third with 47.

Randolph’s girls scored 59 points to win the 4A/5A girls’ state championship. Runner-up Russellville had 46 points and defending state champion St. John Paul II Catholic of Huntsville was third with 42. Sardis was close behind with 37. The Class 1A/3A State Tennis Championships, being played at Montgomery’s Lagoon Park Tennis Center, also concluded Tuesday with Houston Academy posting 54 points to win the boys’ crown for the fourth year in a row. Bayside Academy had 48 points to win the girls’ 1A/3A championship. It was the first state championship for the Lady Admirals since 2018 and third overall.

The Class 6A State Championships will be played Thursday and Friday at Mobile Tennis Center.

In the individual competition:

· Parker Jacques defeated LAMP’s Edward Lee 7-5, 6-1 to repeat as the 4A/5A No. 1 singles champion. He and his brother Houston Jacques defeated Saint James’ doubles team Toba Rias and Josh Harvey 6-0, 6-0 to sweep the No. 1 competition.

· Alana Boyce led Randolph to the 4A/5A girls’ No. 1 championship beating Abrianna Erwin of Etowah in the finals 6-0, 6-0. Boyce and Lova Stenberg also won No. 1 doubles with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Russellville’s Peyton Parrish and Sofia Tiffin. Randolph captured three singles titles and two doubles championships.

· Ryen Walker of Whitesburg Christian downed Grant Eller of Westminster-Oak Mountain 6-2, 6-3 to win the Class 1A/3A No. 1 singles title. Andrew Ayodeji of Houston Academy won at No. 2 with a hard-fought 6-4, 2-6, 10-5 win over Sebastian Sayegh of Montgomery Catholic. The Raiders captured five of the six singles titles and two of the doubles crowns.

· Cooper Davis and Sayegh won the No. 1 doubles championship with a 7-5, 6-3 win over Walker and Grayson Paulus of Whitesburg Christian.

· In the 1A/3A girls’ finals, Amaria Schultz of Mars Hill Bible beat Bayside’s Claire Prickett 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 1. O’Melia MacPherson won at No. 2 for the Admirals beating Lily Grace Draper of Donoho 6-1, 6-1.

· Draper and Claire Hillman won the No. 1 doubles championship beating Prickett and MacPherson 6-1, 2-6, 10-8 in the finals.

· In Class 7A, Bob Jones’ Parker Free, who finished second in 2021, beat Samuel Sellers of Hoover 6-1, 6-1 to win the No. 1 boys’ singles title. Vestavia Hills won three singles finals with Ryan Pearman beating Hoover’s Gavin Patton 6-4, 6-0 in the No. 3 singles finals. Pearlman also joined with Jake Anthony to give the Rebels the championship in No. 1 doubles. The duo beat Isaac Hwangpo and Patton in the finals 6-3, 6-3.

· Claire Bosman of Auburn defeated Cindy Jiang of Vestavia Hills 6-2, 6-1 to claim the Class 7A girls’ singles championship. Vestavia Hills won the other five singles titles, however, with Ansley Cox topping Stella Stephens of Huntsville 6-2, 6-1 in the No. 2 singles finals.

· Bosman and her sister Camilla Bosman joined forces to win the No. 1 doubles title beating Stephens and Mazi MacGrotty 6-2, 6-2 in the final match. Vestavia Hills won the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles championships with Cox and Kenley Outzen taking a 6-1, 6-2 win over Shreya Ejantkar and Hanbi Youn of Auburn in the finals.
