Stand with Ukraine rallies gaining momentum in Tennessee Valley
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) - As Russia’s invasion of Ukraine escalates, people here in the Tennessee Valley continue to rally to show their support of Ukraine.
Each passing day adds more dark tales that Ukrainians will share for generations to come.
“Civilians are being killed. Putin is bombing nonstop. He wants to erase Ukrainians. He wants to destroy Ukrainian culture,” said Ukrainian, Nadya Zhurba.

“It is critical that we support and show our support. Hopefully our leadership in the United States sees that we support this and what is happening is intolerable,” said rally attendee Laura Forte.
In Big Spring Park, Ukrainians sharing stories of their loved ones overseas.
“All this time I had connection with my family but not anymore. I have no idea if they are alive or not…” said one woman.
One man said he is surprised how positive has family has been through the war.
“My family left after the war started but my father stayed until just one day ago.”
Attendees want the U.S to stop importing Russian oil.
“70 percent of Russia’s GDP comes from oil and gas. That money goes directly to fight those people you see right here,” said one Decatur man whose wife is form Ukraine.
They say this isn’t just a fight for Ukraine- it’s for global democracy.
“It is ludacris this is happening. That is the most important thing. We do not allow this type of craziness to happen in our world,” said one rally attendee.
