Man charged with attempting to murder trooper
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) - The subject of a state-wide Blue ALert has been arrested, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
Authorities say Randy Lee Wade, 57, was arrested at 9:00 p.m. Saturday night without incident. At first, ALEA said Wade had assaulted the trooper, they now say Wade attempted to murder them.
According to ALEA, the trooper stopped Wade for a traffic violation and was in the process of arresting him for six warrants when Wade attempted to murder the trooper and left the scene. At that point, the state-wide Blue Alert was put out.
Wade has been charged with Attempted Murder, First-Degree Escape and Second-Degree Theft of Property and is currently in the Sumter County Jail.
The arrest was executed by the United States Marshal Services’ Fugitive Task Force, the 17th Judicial Circuit Drug Task Force along with the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.
