MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WAFF) - Phil Campbell is the new 3A State Baseball Champion in Alabama!

Phil Campbell won Thursday’s game 1 by a final of 5-0.

“We’ve had some teams that can hit, Bobcat’s Head Coach Jonathan Raper said after the game. “But not many teams that can hit 1-9 on any given day with the team speed that we have.”

Mason Swinney: “It’s a dream come true, Class 3A Championship MVP Mason Swinney said after the game. “Ever since I can remember, our dream was to win a State Championship. We had the players to do it. We felt good about this season and got it done.”

“All we thought about was that we weren’t thinking about the next series,” outfielder Levi Crittenden said. “All we were thinking about was the next series we played and that’s all we focused on.”

“Just having young kids look up to you and leading by example,” outfielder Trey Leindecker said. “Just a special team that’s all I can say about it.”

The Bobcats outscored their playoff opponents 112-21, and finished their season with a 40-5 record, bringing school’s first ever Sports Championship to a happy community.

The State Championship game was played at Montgomery’s Riverwalk Stadium.
