U.S. Congressman Mo Brooks says he did not incite any violence in our nation’s capitol
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) - All eyes are on Congressman Mo Brooks for words he used during a speech before the unrest at the Capitol on Wednesday.
WAFF spoke with Brooks about the criticism he is receiving over a speech he made at a Save America rally on Wednesday. The rally happened before pro-Trump supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol while Congress was trying to certify the presidential election results.
Many across the state and around the nation believe Brooks’ played a role in inciting the riot at the capitol.
However, Brooks says he was intending to encourage people to vote and raise their spirits after Republicans lost two senate seats in Georgia the previous day.
“It never occurred to me anyone would engage in violence as a result of my speech or any others. I wanted people to go to protests. I saw what happened was horrible for the American public,” Brooks said.
