North Alabama man arrested after chase ends in downtown Montgomery

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) - A north Alabama man has been arrested after leading Alabama state troopers on a chase that ended in downtown Montgomery.

William King Austin Dial, 28, of Trinity, located in Morgan County, was arrested Monday night after the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency said he refused to pull over for police, then fled from them.

The pursuit started shortly before 8 p.m. when state troopers tried to conduct a traffic stop on the 2001 Mercedes SLK Dial was driving.

Troopers reported the Mercedes was speeding up Interstate 65 several miles south of the I-65/85 interchange

Dial eluded troopers and exited the interstate, traveling into the downtown Montgomery area where the chase came to an end on North McDonough Street.

Troopers said the man fled the scene on foot but was quickly taken into custody.

Following his arrest, the man was charged with attempting to elude, possession of drug paraphernalia, carrying a concealed weapon without permit and multiple traffic violations.

He’s now being held at the Montgomery County Detention Facility on bonds totalling $2,000 as the investigation continues.
