Overnight police investigation on University Drive

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) - UPDATE (January 4): The Madison County Sheriff’s Office released new details in a January 1 night club shooting.

Caprice Lashon Peete was identified as a suspect in the early morning shooting on University Drive. Investigators learned Peete was wanted for murder in Tennessee.

Peete was arrested without incident and awaits extradition in the Madison County Detention Facility.


UPDATE: The Madison County Sherriff’s Office confirms a 30-year-old male was shot in the shoulder around 1 a.m. at 6400 block of University Dr. on Friday.

The victim was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition.

This is an ongoing investigation and officials are combing through surveillance video to learn more and are hoping to retrieve evidence soon.


ORIGINAL: Madison County deputies say there was an incident in the parking lot in front of strip clubs just before 1 a.m. Friday.

Shortly after, the whole scene was taped up with a large police presence.

Deputies were doing routine searches around the area, walking in and out of businesses, and questioning these business employees and other possible witnesses.

A little over an hour after the incident, deputies began to remove the tape and most officers left the scene.
