HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) -Retired veterans at the Floyd E Tut Fann Home got a sweet New Year’s surprise on Friday.

Chaplain James Henderson with the Redstone Huntsville Chapter of Association of the United States Army gave the residents a delivery of 45 pizzas and dessert. Chaplain Henderson said his group decided to have pizzas delivered during this holiday because he wants the veterans to know how much they mean to the community.

During his time in service, Chaplain Henderson said he was a company commander in Vietnam, and in charge of over 200 people. His time in service taught him to never forget a fellow service member.

An action Chaplain Henderson put into action on Friday.

“We want everyone of them to know that they are not forgotten and that the whole community cares for them,” Chaplain Henderson said. “The staff here, I can’t say enough about what they do for these veterans. They truly do an outstanding job.”

Henderson tells our crews the veterans haven’t been able to have visitors because of the pandemic, so this was a way for him to let them know people are thinking about them.
