HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) - The start of a new year is the perfect time to reflect on what you want to improve in your life and to create plans to make it happen.

Think beyond losing weight and reading more.

WAFF spoke to LeJuan George, Senior Business Development Officer at Redstone Federal Credit Union. He offered the following 5 resolutions we should all have on our list for 2021.

  • Create a budget that you will stick to: Your budget should fit your lifestyle.
  • Pay Down credit card debt: There are several methods to consider. Decide on one and stick with it.
  • Start an Emergency Fund: Set up automatic transfers to savings accounts. Start small and keep adding to it all year.
  • Improve your Credit Score: What is your credit score? If it is not as high as it could be, work on that by paying bills on time and paying down debt.
  • Cook more at home: Eating out can be costly. Cooking at home is cheaper, healthier, and it builds a useful skill that everyone should have.
