MADISON COUNTY, Ala. (WAFF) - The Madison County School System issued new event capacity limitations on Monday.
Effective immediately, all Madison County Schools will only be allowed to let in spectators up to 20% capacity of the event location. The previous guideline was set at 50% from the Alabama High School Athletic Association.
“Limiting capacity at extra curricular activities like band events, high school basketball games, and all other spectator and students events, allows us to keep these events scheduled, but at the same time, help control the potential spread of COVID-19 among our students, staff and visitors to our campuses,” stated Mr. Allen Perkins, Superintendent, Madison County Schools.
Sporting events that may be impacted include basketball, wrestling, bowling and indoor track.
Schools are asking spectators and students to adhere to the following:
- Spectators must be wearing a mask to enter the gym
- Spectators must wear masks unless eating or drinking
- Spectators must sit and/or stand socially distanced unless with family members
