JACKSON COUNTY, Ala. (WAFF) - An Indiana man is facing kidnapping and vehicle charges in Jackson County after being apprehended on Sunday night.
Around 6 p.m. on December 6, members of the Hollywood Police Department and the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office responded to Highway 72 in Hollywood to a report of a possible kidnapping of a 3 year old child.
Duane Herron, age 45, was arrested in Lauderdale County following a kidnapped child alert issued by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.
According to a JCSO spokesperson, Herron had permission to take the child to a park in Scottsboro. After several hours, the child’s mother could not locate Herron and the child. She then reported the situation to local authorities.
According to the mother, Duane Herron had been staying at the mother’s residence.
Herron and the child were later found in Lauderdale County. He faces charges of kidnapping a child and unauthorized use of a vehicle.
Bond has not been set at this time.
The child was returned to his mother safe and unharmed.
