35-year-old man killed in accident with school bus in Cullman County

CULLMAN COUNTY, Ala. (WBRC) - A 35-year-old man was killed early Friday morning after an accident with a school bus in the Welti Community in Cullman County.

The Cullman County Coroner confirmed Joshua Charles Skinner, of Cullman, was killed. The crash happened on County Road 747 near County Road 703.

State Troopers said Skinner died when the 2000 Nissan Frontier driving crossed the center line and collided with a 2014 Bluebird International School Bus.

Skinner did not have on his seatbelt and died at the scene.

Ed Roberson, the CFO for Cullman County Schools, said the bus driver is an EMT and tried to help save the driver.

Cullman County Superintendent Shane Barnette tells WBRC FOX6 News that 17 children were on the bus.

Five children on the bus were taken to local hospitals for treatment, according to State Troopers.

Authorities said speed is believed to be a contributing factor to the crash.
