DECATUR, Ala. (WAFF) - There won’t be a face covering ordinance in Decatur going into the holiday weekend.
The Decatur City Council held a special called meeting Tuesday afternoon. They tabled the ordinance’s discussion until a work session at 4 p.m. next Monday.
There were several more public comments with a mix of opinions Tuesday night. Many from the business community showed up to voice their concerns, with many saying they don’t want the responsibility of having to turn away customers who don’t follow the ordinance.
There were suggestions of only make masking a requirement at city facilities and making sure the ordinance has a time limit to expire.
The council passed a resolution Monday night that encourages the use of face coverings in public.
