DECATUR, Ala. (WAFF) - Decatur and Morgan county leaders held a press briefing at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
Guests included Decatur Mayor Tab Bowling, Morgan County Commission Chairman Ray Long and Alabama department of Public Health Administrator for the Northern District Judy Smith.
“All of us at this table are in touch twice if not three times per day,” said Smith.
Long talked about seeing many people out this weekend not wearing masks.
“I drove by the ball fields this weekend and saw many people out there not using masks. We have to take this seriously.”
Smith also discussed the recent surge in positive cases in Morgan county.
“Over 40% of our total cases have happened in the last 14 days.”
“We have 20 COVID patients in Decatur-Morgan Hospital at this time.”
Mayor Bowling mentioned Decatur will host a blood drive soon as well.
